Logistics Support Flight

The Logistics Support Flight has 12 staff and is commanded by an RAF WO Supplier. It provides the Unit Logistic services, Armament and communications systems support.

Supply personnel

The section employs 9 personnel mainly MOD Civil Servants

TASK

Provide a service for the procurement and storage of clothing, Technical and general equipment in support of the Unit.

Responsibilities

Provision, accounting and maintenance of accommodation store for all MOD Buildings.
Supply and accounting of Fuels for training and heating.
March in/out of families in SFA in liaison with DHE.
Receipt and despatch facility for civilian hauliers and freight distribution with RAF Odiham.
Functionality and daily operation of laundry, dry-cleaning.
Clothing issues including control of PPE, kitting of Basic Fire-fighter courses and PRS.
Barrack issues (carpets, curtains, furniture).
Technical stores including MT spares.
Provide equipment in support of OOA operations.
Demanding of all unit’s equipment requirements
Inventory Management
Contracts for Scavenging, Laundry and Tailoring.
Monitoring of utility bills.
USAS II Supply Computer system through a dial up communication link with RAF Odiham.

Armament personnel

1 x Cpl – Armourer
1 x SAC – Armourer

Responsibilities

Pyrotechnics used in the training of fire fighters.
25M firing range.
Respirator test facility.

TASK

Provide IT and Communications at DFTDC Manston

The main building has an internal network of connected PCs run from two servers.

We have an RLI SDP in the server room of the main building.  This serves the JPA server, JPA workstations and HRMS workstations.  Outlying JPA workstations are connected to the main building by private wire and modem. 

FDT and IPDS have smaller internal networks of PCs for Key skills/Training Design and IPDS Developement.  These are run from individual servers in the relevant locations.

All other PCs at the Station are standalone.

We have an Internet suite for use by visiting personnel.

All telephone and communication devices are managed by the CIS personnel.
